Woops! I lied… The Absurd Jellyfish is Back Online.

Woops - Absurd Jellyfish is BACK!

Woops - Absurd Jellyfish is BACK!

Well, look at that.  Guess I do have more to say that really doesn’t fit on any of my other sites. So — the jellyfish has been resurrected! More blog coming about anything and everything NOT related to Colorado Mysteries or Ready Player One. Those topics are covered fairly well by my other sites. Now, I just have to learn to keep up with regular blogging and life will be good!

To begin, I’d like to do a little bit of shameless self promotion (and what blogger in the world does’t partake in that passtime at least once every other post?!)

I’ve entered myself into a contest of sorts over on www.benolabound.com — I’m trying to win one of 25 spots on a documentary “panel” to discover and learn more about New Orleans as a hub for business. This contest was made for me! Ironic that it will take place 2 weeks after my family and I will already have been out there for our family vacation. But, as a wise friend of mine told me (or perhaps it was a wise husband that told me) — “You can never have too many trips to New Orleans!” And I would have to agree. So please, if you see this, take a minute or two to read my application for this wonderful project, then share it with your fellow friends on Facebook, Twitter, or Linkedin. I would be forever grateful for any help in promoting my online reach.

Many thanks in advance!

Now, let’s get our writing caps on and start blogging!

Farewell

Ok, it’s obvious that I’m not doing very well with my personal blog.  Maybe I no longer have much to say (I’m sure my kids and husband would say differently, lol).  Maybe it’s because I spend so much of my day working on social media like facebook and twitter for my day job that I no longer feel the need to be blogging my daily thoughts.  Maybe it’s just time to pack it in and say – “It was a lot of fun” – because it WAS.  But now it’s time to put the Jellyfish to sleep.

You can still follow my other ventures if you wish:

SEO Alchemist – my freelance search engine optimization site

Mysterious Colorado – My site dedicated to all things mysterious and paranormal in Colorado

Castle Anorak – A fan site for the Book “Ready Player One” by Ernest Cline

Take care, and don’t step on any of those Jellyfish!

Give For Life Event 2011

Kimberly Karsell and the entire Start Talking Network once again did an amazing job at this years fundraising event for suicide awareness in Evergreen, CO.  The event is held at Cactus Jacks Saloon and it is a wonderful tribute to our friend Tom Karsell, and other mountain community members who lost their battle with depression.  The Start Talking Network is dedicated to get help and resources to the mountain communities who have seen a large number of suicides over the last years.  It is a courageous undertaking, but a necessary one.  My gratitude and thanks go out to everyone who made this event so special and to everyone who gave to such a worthy cause!

Where the heck have you been?

Hahaha, no, I haven’t fallen off the face of the planet.  Nor have I been kidnapped by aliens.

Since last leaving a post on The Jellyfish, I have had a bit of a change in my career path.  I went from managing projects, which I neither excelled greatly at nor enjoyed in the least, to working hands on in the search engine marketing department of the same company as a Search Engine Optimization Specialist.  Or, SEO for short.  It’s been nearly a year and I have to say that I am loving everything about the change!  Well, OK, I’d rather be making a $mil a year, BUT that aside (lol) I am loving my new position and responsibilities.  What a huge difference it makes to be hapy at one’s career!

As part of my career change I created what I thought was going to be a one off, or mock project to show my understanding of SEO.  I made a fun little website about Colorado’s mysterious side and optimized it for my interview.  I didn’t really think I would keep going with it, but it has turned into a huge passion!  So, if you want to see what I’ve been doing with my time (when I’m not learning the ropes of a new job, and taking care of two tweens, a dog, a cat, and a husband) check out my “baby” – MysteriousColorado.com

Mysterious Colorado features ghost stories and ghost towns of Colorado AND bizarre historical figures.  I’m not going for the straight Old West history here.  I’m going for weird.  I love me some strange ole Colorado, and my research has not been boring!  It would be nice if I had 100 hours of more free time per week to get my stories and blog posts (for both this blog and Mysterious Colorado) rolling, but c’est la vie, it goes like it goes.  Slow and steady wins the race.  Or so I’m told!

My other side side side project is a personal SEO website for freelance work.  I hope to have that up soon.  When I do, you can probably find a link to it here.

So take a peek at my Colorado site, and check back for (hopefully) more blog activity on the Jellyfish!

Bad experience with Godaddy.com – buyer beware!

Godaddy.com experience from this weekend was less than stellar.   The initial set up and first check in call from them were awesome, very nice.  The check in call turned into an upsell call however.  No biggie, I guess that is kind of expected.  The really nice woman upsold me another 33 months of service and she promised a rate discounted from the advertised rate.  The advertised rate when I had signed up less than two days before was 2.99/mo for a 36 mo package.  I thought – GREAT.  And I opted to take it.

Unfortunately, when I saw my bill – it was for $4.99/mo for 33 months.  NOT at all what I had expected, so I contacted customer service.  Should be called – Terrible Customer Service.  I explained what happened and they said I am not eligible for the 2.99 discount rate because that is for NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY.  New??!!??  I explained that I had only signed up on Saturday – less then 24 hours from the up-sell call.  Nope.  Sorry.  No discount.  When I called them directly I was actually laughed at when I asked for a refund. Seriously??!!??

I’m not eligible for the “NEW HOSTING” rate merely 2 days after signing on as a new customer?  And it’s OK to laugh at me when I ask for a refund for a service that I was talked into by the sales staff?   I expected more from godaddy.com since I work with them through my employer.

Buyer beware.  I signed up on Saturday pm, site up Sunday am, received the up-sell call Monday and agreed to 33 more mo. of service but didn’t get the discount because I’m not a NEW HOSTING customer. Literally less than 48 hrs later and I’m not eligible for the new rate.  Boo, godaddy, boo!

Ren Faire 2010

•August 5, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Oh how fun is it to spend the day in the baking hot sun goofing around in Merry Ol’ Ren Towne? LOL

Fun Fest @ Ren Fest… you are without doubt the worst pirate I have ever heard of …

This was my tots first ever Renaissance Festival and I was really hoping they would like it. I know they are fans of fantasy games (like WoW and DND) but still wasn’t sure how immersed they wanted to get into the whole thing.

Well, how could I have ever worried about it? They are my own flesh and blood afterall! I knew the instant that they were begging to rent outfits at the entrance costume shoppe that we had a winning enterprise on our hands.

We had fun with friends (Stephanie and Max) – what a great time!

And I swear that my son is a Knight reincarnate — he won at the jousting ride (got a ring on a lance, first try) then shot a bullseye at the Archery Range. I also saw him sport some sweet maneuvers when playing with a carved wooden sword (he didn’t know I was watching, shhhhhh…) – yeah, totally his niche! It was awesome!

Fun times, great day, wonderful friends!
